ABS code U1040 issue
Fuse is fine and I had everything apart and all wires seem to be ok and the bike runs totally fine but the ABS light stays on
I am thinking sensor or bad ground somewhere ??
Had it in to dealer and they said their "electrician guy " was on holidays and they couldn't look at it for awhile and then said it could be several hours labour to find problem when I can get it looked at
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
U1040 Code Possible causes:
Open ABS fuse
Open battery circuit
Open ground circuit
Open serial data circuit

Yes the Electrical Diagnostic Manual gives instructions for trouble shooting codes.
That's what rozemab posted:
1 Check fuse
2 Check to see if power is making it to ABS module
3 Check to see if ABS module ground wire is grounded
4 Check serial data or CAN Bus wiring to make sure ABS Module can communicate with BCM
5 No short on the wires.
6 if all above checks out the ABS module may be bad
Basically it's saying check all wiring to make sure you have continuity from fuse to ABS, ABS to BCM, any wire shorted to to grd and ABS to Grd... No pins have backed out of connectors or pinched wires broken.
