Before buying anything, go to the Tech Electrical section where you will find a couple of Stickies on checking your charging system. They should help you diagnose the problem, so you buy what you need. It may well need a new regulator, but at least you will have confirmed that first!

The next step IMHO is to consult your FSM and go through the more extensive tests in that - or find yourself a local indy who can diagnose your bike. After all, we can't see or lay hands on the poor thing! It is too easy to go round in circles chasing an unknown problem, so find someone who can identify it for you.

These things need some TLC after 12 years...I replaced my belt , stator, clutch while I had a lot of stuff off and it makes for a more reliable ride in the long run...$hit wears out.
