I bought my 1990 FLHS below new, which is Hi Fi Candy Blue metallic (or some combination of those words!). I joked at the time that each major part of it had been painted using a different batch of paint, as in bright sunshine they each looked subtly different. So if your bike also looks like different shades it confirms that my later one follows a 'fine' tradition! I've since had it painted a similar but solid pale blue, as I wasn't prepared to splash out on expensive fancy paint. Those dark colours that look black in some lights are back in fashion - our new car is similar in style, in 85% plain chocolate brown pearlescent. Looks great - honest!

As for repainting yours, being original is fine, but being individual is better IMHO. By all means stay with blue, but take a look around.

Usely I like the dark blue but that light blue looks great on that bike for some reason. It's brite and more noticable, goes great against the chrome.

I like the tank color, but it's just an opinion. Not to mention it will be easier to paint the fender than remove and paint everything else. Nice bike.

Got to paint any way. I know the decision is mine. But. What ya'll think. Paint front fender to match tank and rear fender or paint it all like the front fender. I like blue. Jokes and smart remarks are expected. Give ya'll some thing to do while it is too hot to ride.
1964..one year after I graduated from High School. I wish I looked as good NOW as that bike does now.

I think your rig looks great just the way it is! Like a rolling piece of history with a wonderful story to tell. If you forced my hand to choose I would go with the darker shade of blue. Please post more pics!

I'm partial to the blue on the front fender.

Thanks to all for your input. I have already bought the paint to do the front fender as the same as tank and rear fender when I started having second thoughts. Paint is expensive. Just one half pint to do the front fender was $50.00.
ShadoHawg. Yes. That is a Russ Peterson Right Side Electric Start. RSES. My right knee joint has been replaced and my left knee needs to be replaced. The beauty of the RSES is that nothing changes. You can take it off and put the kicker right back on.
