I hope so too man. I really do. These parts aren't cheap as it is, and to have them come apart like that isn't acceptable. I believe Mark has been shown my picture and confirmed that I wasn't the first one he's seen with that problem, but I didn't talk with him myself since he's moved on to new opportunities and didn't have his contact info.

My tensioner was installed with a solid sprocket and two separate large displacement engines (126" and 124" - another long story). I don't know if any of that contributed to it's early demise.

I have seen several members posting that the bracket has bent and that Baker is aware of this happening, but I'm not sure if anything was changed to address that.

I've gone back to a new stock tensioner (39929-06B). Sometimes I question whether I went looking for a solution to a problem I wasn't having and got bit by upgrading something I didn't really need to upgrade.

Best of luck to you - even though it's a hassle, I recommend checking yours every 5k miles when you services fluids. Primary fluid is cheap enough, and you can reuse the large gasket several times if you're careful with it.

The upside is that a Baker transmission is a standard in the industry......

BUT... the rest of these current "adventures" with Baker does not bode well.....

The sad part is, that tensioner in the pic had very few miles on it.

Oh yeah, I forgot that part! Thanks for the reminder.

Few miles = 4,928 miles.

I do keep detailed records and I reviewed them to see when it went in and when it came out. Obviously it had broken sometime before that - but that's the odometer reading difference for when the actual install and removal occurred.

I sent Baker pic's of my tensioner as it is bent and the shoe was wearing in alittle **** eyed. They told me everything was great. Now i'm starting to wondered about this thing. This could lockup the primary drive and dump you on your head.
I wonder how many of these things are failing and how many have been sold ? I've always put alot of faith in Baker parts, but am starting to second guess them with these things breaking like this.

Anyone removing theirs because of this.

I contacted Baker back in April about a comp. They told me two weeks. I just contacted them today and again was told two weeks. This time they told me back orders were being filled and that new orders are 2.5 weeks out for shipping. I won't order one until I know they have one in stock, because I refuse to let a company charge me for a product they do not have in stock (Which they will do) Take my order and charge my CC when the order is filled! After reading all this though I think I'll take a hard pass on getting one.

I have recently read several posts about the Baker tensioner bending or otherwise not holding up.... to be fair, most of the reports I've read are with big inch/ big power builds...

But it would appear the Baker tensioner isn't of the same bullet-proof quality of their transmissions....

I should have called before I ordered because the website didn’t say anything about back orders. My UPS shipping says it will be delivered tomorrow, so I guess we will find out.

I don’t blame you. I won’t order one either if it’s back ordered and based on what I’m reading here, I don’t have a warm fuzzy feeling about Baker anymore.

Ya, I called them to ask them a question about it before ordering one. The guy on the phone in April told me they were on back order. I asked if I went on the website and ordered one if my CC would be charged when the order was fulfilled. He said, no it will be charged right away, but it will guarantee you get first dibs when it comes in. Sorry, but it's like a $600 purchase with rotor. No way I am doing that. Glad I didn't, still wouldn't be getting one.

Yep, I think I'll just stay away. My SE Comp is clunky at idol (at times) not always. I'm not sure if I just got a bad SE Comp or what. It doesn't seem to effect the bike at all, just noisy once and a while. I thought I'd try the Baker, but it seems I've been lied too since April... Oh 2 weeks, Oh two weeks. What if I have an issue with it.. Then what?
