FOX Suspension??
I know there are a lot of Ohlin and Howard lovers on this forum but I am not willing to go in that direction. Your comments on Fox suspension would be greatly appreciated.
Couple of videos done by laidlaw HD. First video he praises the Fox shocks, the second video he done several months later and now says RWD RS1 shocks are his new favorite. Just passing on a couple of videos worth watching. Good luck sir!
I rode to Sturgis this year on the original shocks on my 14 limited. I had been looking at all the options on new shocks here and other places for a few years. I had seen the Legend vs Fox Comparison You Tube Vid by LaidLaw also. I was leaning Towards Legend Legends since they were right there in Sturgis.. But I have Fox Shocks on My Polaris RzR 900 trail and they have been great compaired to the stock ones that cam with it. So i had some experience with Fox in that. When I got to my camp in Sturgis it happend that 2 guys there one on a Road King and one on a road glide had done the Fox Rears last year and were very happy with them and so they were doing the fronts at the rally this year. They were very happy with them. Fox has just come out this year for Cartridges for the front on the touring models. so these guys were going to get the fronts done this yea. I believe the Road king could only upgrade the springs in front but the Roadglide could get the cartridges So i went to the Fox tent at the Rapid city Harley area and talked to the people there and just had them do the Rear and front shocks----Best thing i have done to the bike. They set them up and did the install in abt 1 1/5 half hours. Great techs and the marketing people were very informative also. Saying they wanted to get more into the Harley arena now and were working on ramping up on getting the info out to the Harley groups. So i now have Cartridges in front and adjustables in the rear---very happy--night and day difference for me.Bike feels more planted and i feel more confidant. Bumps that were jaring and road imperfections smoothed out alot and washboard roads i went on seemed alot more comfortable no more pounding on most washboards and seemed much more controlled and better. Front end does not dive down like with stock when i grab front break i can control the front reactions alot better under hard stops. Im alot more confidant and trusting the bike more on corners and just general road conditions. I road from Sturgis to Rapid city the next day via Nemo on the Vanocker Canyon Road. To check out the new shocks. I made a point of going as fast as i was comfortable with and it was great. I purposely road in the middle of the lane because there were lots of sections with washboarded road and i could really feel how the rears were soaking up the bumps-not the jarring feeling like when they were stock -it was very fun and then from there went directly back to the Fox tent in Rapid City and thanked the techs and the folks there for the best upgrade i made to my bike and that no adjustments were needed.
Again its the best thing i have done to the bike. I have a Stage 1 on it that i had when i bought it. but i would recommend them. it helped that at Sturgis there was no charge for Labor. I paid about $1400 for both front and rear and i am very happy with them and the purchase. Ride back from Sturgis to Idaho was alot more fun for me--- : )
Here is the Bike having the front Cartridges put in up in the lift in the Fox tent in Sturgis/Rapid City HD 2019.
