Default Check Engine light

Have a 15SG and over the past winter I did a bar swap and got the usual check engine lights. I cleared them and everything was fine for a short while until they popped back up. I could never clear them again, but I wasn't to concerned as it was in "low performance mode" and wasn't effecting the bike. I'm sure it was a broken or pinched wire in the TBW and was going to address it this winter. Now for the last few hundred miles the engine light is off and no error codes. What could cause this? Should I still pull the bars and address the issue? Really don't want to pull the bars off but I also want to make sure the problem is fixed. Opinions?

Opinion: If you know how to clear the codes, you also know how to display them. Whether the light is on or not, you probably have a few stored. Write them down, look them up and decide yourself how serious they are or ask for advice once you have some actual information to offer.

Electrical problems can often bite back and leave you stranded. Should you address the issue? You shouldn't need to ask and should have done that when you first found you had a problem!

I went through this after a bar swap. That little green connector inside the handlebar for the grip twist sensor is most likely the problem. I cut it out an direct wired it for a while then after a while I guess one broke so I ordered a new sensor an the wire it plugs into.

a quick easy thing to try first is the plug connector on the back side of the throttle body. Disconnect it an clean both sides with electronic parts cleaner an put some electric grease on it an clear the codes an give it a try.

I got the twist sensor an the wire it plugs into on line for around $130, which was less than the local dealership wanted just for the sensor.
