One thing to keep in mine about older bikes, is the weird stuff.

Friday afternoon this summer, when leaving work, a saddle bag lid fell off. I doubt to many people are honestly checking those little bolts. I will now. Can only get at 2 of the 4.

This. Or just the 2014-2016 Rushmore. Such a big step up from putting lipstick on a pig. Get 5K for you RK and spend another 5K to get into a 2014 no problem.

Some of us have already put lipstick on the pig, for an old gal she looks pretty hot. I like my older bike, it has character

Tough choice indeed.
I went from an 05 Ultra to 19 Limited.
I know Ultra vs. King is not apples to apples, but I'm more than happy I made the switch.
Every single thing on it is an upgrade, from Boom radio to suspension to handling...and most importantly, the motor.

Pete, since you have a Heritage already and this will more than likely be a you and the Mrs. bike... take an Ultra or Glide for a spin.
Once my wife had that tour pack to lean back on (and put more **** in...lol) she was sold, which....helped me

King is still an awesome bike, absolutely no doubt. Take the time to ride other bikes since you're at this stage.
May even find a left over 18 model somewhere at this point, cheap, now that 20's are on the floor.

Good luck!

I get attached to stuff, which is why I keep it. Plus I just hate selling stuff, and dealing with it. As far as character, I am not that romantic. Though the last 40 years they look about the same.

Myself, I look at things, as once they are paid for, and value drops, I just don't think about selling them.

Someday will get another newer bike. Doubt I will get any of the murphidite years like Rushmore. Probably wait until M8s have bugs out, which may be now, I dunno. Though good price on newer TC may do it. I just want bluetooth stereo, and bigger speakers, for the most part. 6 gallon tank. Or who knows take 5k buy that for the one I got. As long as you realize never getting money out of it.

For me having a FLHR for summer riding, and Ultra for cooler whether is a great combination. I like having atleast two bikes.

With the cooler temps, smoother motor, and more power; every time I hop on my new King, I feel more reassured that I made the right move from TC to M8.
