A while back my FLHT fuel gauge went wild, bouncing back and forth like the fuel was sloshing, only worse. I looked all over the forum trying to find an answer. Seemed all the threads quickly moved into the <<I never use it, use the odometer>>type of statment. Well I DO use the odometer, but the needle bouncing around kept attracting my attention. I went to the local stealer and talked to a mechanic who thought it would be the sender in the tank. I replaced it with no better results. So this time I replaced the actual gauge and its fixed!! Cost me a sender I didn't need, but that's what I get for listening to the stealer.
Anyway I thought I would post this in case anyone else is having the same trouble and at least I didn't have to pay any labor charges.
Well I am going on 2nd sender in 3 weeks, and the dealer said they tried a new gauge and still not working. They checked electrical system and all seems to be fine.
