Default Shocks

Lots of brands out nowadays, I just put on a
Set of Fox shocks while my 357 Öhlins
were sent out to get serviced and these
things are smooth right out the box.
Had to send the standard version back
and get the Heavy duty version though.
Vender gave me wrong info but they made it right. The wife and I are very happy.
Not sure if I even want to put the Öhlins
back on now.

Are you saying the Fox shocks performed as well as your worn out Ohlins that you sent out for service?
Sounds eerily similar to when a rider using brand A tire switches to brand B when the current tire on their motorcycle is due for a change and claims brand B tire rides so much better than brand A. Of course brand B is going to ride better. You're comparing a new tire with a worn out one.

Thanks all for your comments.
There are countless threads on shocks! What many of us have found is that buying 'affordable' shocks is all too often a disappointment and doesn't bring about much improvement in ride quality. That comment especially applies of you like to ride with the love of your life. There is a risk, if you persist in buying 'affordable' shocks that you do not find nirvana, simply spend money and time chasing that dream.

If you are a committed Harley owner, buying genuinely good quality shocks will give you a significantly improved ride and they can be transferred to a later bike, or simply sold separately. There are only a few brands of shocks that qualify as being genuinely good - I'm another very happy Ohlins owner.

First off the Öhlins aren’t worn out,
I sent them in to upgrade the pistons
what Ohlins calls from version 0
to version 1, This is suppose to give the
wife and I a more softer plusher ride
which is what We are looking for at this
time in are lives, I made a lot of changes
to the bike with the inverted frontend
Aluminum swingarm etc. And since
them changes I just couldn’t get the ride
Set to what we like,
I got them back a couple days ago but
didn’t put them on because there seemed
to be a service error so now they are on
the way back to Ohlins, I will say though
If they don’t ride any better than the Fox shocks
when i get them back then they will go on the shelf,
No reason to keep spending $ on them
when these Fox shocks give us the ride we
Are looking for already.
Im not saying Fox is better than ohlins
All I’m saying is everybody’s riding style
is different and everybody has there own
Opinion on what they are looking for in
there ride.

Is this the upgrade revision/version change with pistons, valve/shim stack and oil? Did you also go for the Teflon lined preload adjustment collars?
