Default GPS for pre-‘14 models?

Hi, I’m starting to look for either a Road Glide or a Street Glide. Getting sticker shock on prices on the new ones, so considering going pre-owned and a little older to find a more wallet friendly price. One on the things I really like about the new bikes is the factory GPS/infotainment system. My question is, is there a way that you can fit one of them in a pre-2014 model fairing?(road or street glide). Not sure it is possible to get an adapter for the inner fairing with the right cutout or if you could fit a post-2014 fairing on an older model? Not sure if this is even possible without spending tons on a custom job. Just thought I would ask here and see.

Thanks,
Eric

My father in law has a 2009 touring and bought a handle bar mount for his Garmin GPS.

I have a 2014 and so far when I have used a GPS, I used my phone (Android with google maps) I have found that Google maps nav is superior to the one HD provides and Garmin. So, I would recommend just getting a nice phone mount such as the one from Ciro 3D (a bunch of mounting options) and just use that.

For the extra money and hassle you should just chase down a 2014 with the radio in it.

How often do you actually use GPS? If it's only occasionally buy a bike you can comfortably afford and spend a few hundred dollars on a bike friendly GPS and mounting bracket.
If you have to have it intagrated then find a '14 or newer with what you want. I'm sure you "could" put a modern faring and the associated electronics on an older bike but by the time you're done I can't see it being economical or as reliable as just getting one with it.

Before I got my Ultra, I had a 2011 RKC. Used my Garmin Zumo for years without issue. Hardwired it to the accy switch.
Phone GPS is even better it shows traffic.

I found a Garmin with traffic information recently for 150 and use a handle bar mount. Its not waterproof but I can have it off in quick second if need to. When I dont have it on the bar, the small round ball mount is inconspicuous. I have less that 200 total in the setup and have hardwired to aux power. Wire tucks into my windshield bag when off

I'd bet that retrofitting an pre 14 bike with the modern fairing would be quite cost prohibitive. By time you do that, you could probably find a bike that already has the radio that you're looking for. It would certainly be a fun project!

If you can hold off until early winter, you might be able to snag a much better deal than you can right now.

If such a thing was possible, I suspect it'd be cheaper to just buy a 2014+ bike with the Boom Audio/Nav system.

As others point out, what are you looking to do? I would seriously consider using your phone and Google maps for Navigation. I have used it for years without issue. Also, I use my phone for my music needs. Communicating bike to bike is handled through a Sena unit.

I travel a few times a year with a group of guys, some with the latest and greatest from Harley. From a navigation standpoint, it does not compare with the ease of Google maps and a phone.

I have a TomTom Rider on my 13' Ultra. Its mount is held by the clutch handle bolts, it is powered by the bike, it comes on and goes off with the bike, it's water-proof, and has lifetime maps and traffic info, It also connects to my cell phone via Bluetooth. I love it!
