Default LRS Recurve shield measuring query

Just been on the LRS site looking at how they recommend measuring screen heights and they say to measure the vertical height from the central screw (on the glide) and not the actual screen length. I assume on the Road King you measure from the headlight cut out upwards? If you then measure the vertical height as 20” and therefore order the 20” screen what height/length is the actual screen?

Be sure to check out Freedom Shields in addition to LRS....practically no distortion, better thickness....great return policy (test ride with the protective plastic still on and you can return it)....and they come in 1" increments so there's a fit for everyone. Check them out.

Thanks, I've checked them all out LRS, Freedom, Clearview and Klock Werks. I prefer the aesthetic look of the LRS as the freedom are a bit more square at the top due to them being wider. Personal thing

I've been looking into this again, were you comparing the LRS Road King or the LRS Road King Elite with Freedom shields?

Measure your stock windshield from the headlight cutout and go from there. It seems to me that's how I did mine and have no regrets.

It says how to measure right there on each shield's product page, under fitment: https://www.longrideshields.com/coll...oad-king-elite
For maximum performance, the top of the windshield should sit to be between the tip of the nose and mouth. Measure from the shields’ cutout (just above the headlight) straight up to the ideal height.

Thanks, that's what I normally do. I'm currently trying to find a UK stockist as it's working out at just over $300 by the time it's shipped to the UK

Yeah that's what the video says in terms of height, but it wasn't clear about how long the screen is. However, LRS themselves have got back to me and they say that on the road king the measurement is taken from the headlight itself, therefore the 20" screen is 20" from the headlight although the actual screen height taken from the headlight cut out to top of the screen is just over 19".

It's all a bit confusing tbh as their 20" screen wouldn't give you 20" vertical height despite them saying that's how you should measure and choose the screen. However, in my case it doesn't really matter as that's the tallest they do, but if you measured 18" as your ideal height then it could get a bit more difficult as to which screen you should choose. I've actually worked out that 21" actual screen height is the ideal height for me in that it's the tallest I can have without the top edge being in my peripheral vision and being distracting. As the LRS one is 'only' a touch over 19" actual screen height I'm thinking I might be better off with one of the other makes.

My cheapest option is to by the OEM Harley 22" screen as I can get that in the UK for Ł133 ($162) compared to circa $300 for a recurve, however it's then a question of whether not having the recurve is going to be an issue, and whether at 22" the edge of the screen being in my peripheral vision is going to be irritating. Decisions decisions

This is how mine was measured and has been perfect for years.
