I am on my second Road Glide, first one was a 2011 custom and this one is a 2013 Road Glide Ultra.

I will tell you what I heard a salesman tell a customer looking at both. the SG is more of a 1up bike and the RG is more of a 2 up bike. Yes same frame bike etc. Its in the seat area you have more room on the RG.

And as mentioned above less arm strain on long trips with the RG. Hell I pass trucks with no hands on the bars. I live dangerously I ride a motorcycle LOL. Just saying that is how little buffetting from the wind I get passing trucks.
No I dont do it all time but I have. Bike set on cruise at 90 and lets go.

Heres an idea for you go back and ride the RG again and when you get off if you dont look back and say Yeah thats it get the SG cuz you dont understand the RG world
Most people know within 5-10 minutes on a RG if its for them and yes it may still take a little getting used too but you know.

Good luck on your decision.

After 25,000 miles on my 2016 Street Glide Special I test rode the 2018 SGS and RGS with 107 and 114 engines. Love the like of the RG but can not get over the gauge location. I decided to stay with my SGS with all the added goodies and Love it!
BTW at 29,000 and 4 great trips under the belt.

For us California people or anyone from a state that lane splits, this was a bigger factor in my decision.

With the SG, the batwing fits easily under most car mirrors.

Riding the RG, the shark nose is right at most mirror levels making splitting much more dangerous and tighter, eliminating ability to split in many situations.
