B bop, are you sure the transmission was properly filled those ~3,xxx miles ago? Might it have actually been under filled and you’re just discovering it?

No, not likely. Many years back, the Navy taught me to be very demanding on specific details, working on FA18 Hornets & F-14A+ Tomcats there was (no room for errors at 25.000 ft. @ Mach 2).

I am still meticulous about details 20 years later, and currently my profession demands it.

But then I'm human and make mistakes like everyone else, this is why I double/Triple checked my reference books.

Appreciate it, B- Bop

2012 FLHR (Road King) Stage II Red Ember Sunglo/Merlo Sunglo, Original HD Chrome Laced Profile Aluminum Spoke Tubeless Rims, ABS, Cruise Control, Security Package, Saddlebag LED Spoiler lights, and array of nostalgic & performance accessories that enhances appearance & blood curdling performance.

It’s a shame there is nothing available today that can measure white knuckles & big a$$ smiles.

Zerk - Your suggestion checking vent hose is good. Although my scoot only has 19,000 miles on the clock, but then eliminating all possibilities is a solid start.

Appreciate it!

If the trans is low after 3k miles then I would think....

A. Its leaking out onto the ground
B. Its leaking into the primary
C. Its was originally underfilled
D. More than one or all of of the above

Drain both the trans and primary measuring the contents of each. Check those measurements against the manual.

I've seen primary leak into tranny after engine leaked I to primary. Unless levels are to high it's not going to flow. Unless some how pressurized.

If you're just looking for a fluid that works well in both the Trans and Primary and is compatible with each other, then I'd recommend Harley's Formula+. It always worked great in my Primary, although I found the shiftng a bit smoother when using Redline Heavy Shockproof in the tranny. This was on a 2010 Road King. As suggested though, probably best to monitor first to make sure you actually have a problem.

Navy taught you do be very demanding on specific details,,,, but you come here saying you ASSUME the fluid is transfering to the primary?

Yeah, your correct, only if the Navy schools would of taught Harley twin cam (101 internal moving parts) I wouldn't be assuming anything....lol.

hdrider1 - Yeah I liked the Harley Formula+ in primary but my new clutch manufacture suggested ATF. So I went in that direction. Other than the clutch now grabs very well, finding neutral is no longer a problem.

Yes, I agree with you to monitor. Believe this is the most logical approach. Will repost findings when I start back up riding again next season.

Appreciate it!
