What was the ambient temperature for each start? Mine is not happy taking a throttle flick when cold, especially if I haven't ridden it in a week or longer. Was the cold idle rpm up where it should have been or was it running a little slow the time you had the backfire? How many miles, might it be due a fuel filter change? How much gas in the tank, is the level low enough to encourage over night condensation on the inside?

Default What was that..

Possible intake gasket leaking.. Gas seeps past the gasket, acclimates in the combustion chamber, you hit the starter and the spark ignite's it, causing the explosion and backfire.. I would have it checked, do a cylinder leak down test..just for piece of mind.

Had a car blow the intake manifold right off he engine years ago, due to a bad gasket..

What bike?
What engine? (like, does it have EFI?)
What ambient?
When was the last time you rode it?
Battery low?
Backfire out the pipe, fireball?
Or did it backfire through the intake?

Sooo many possibilities, and with no info at all from you we can only guess.

My guess is; it's an EFI bike, and had marginal power left in the battery, and with colder weather you got some gas fumes in the exhaust pipe when she sparked off for a sec.

Make sure air filter, etc are all good, charge the battery fully, and ride on. I would not let a little backfire worry you, unless something more significant happens.
