My stock header pipe is pretty blue and black from the heat this RK generates. Even the heat shield is discolored some. Right where it bends close to the right side footboard. I'm getting readyto dothe Stage I very soon.
Has anyone's dealer replaced this pipe under warranty? I figure that I can ask for the warranty to be honored and use the SERT and Dyno costs as a little bit of leverage.
If you have not changed any of the exhaust parts from stock, you should be able to get replacements under the warranty. This means no mods to either the intake or the exhaust. They both must be stock.

That's why I'm going to try and get it done before the Stage I
I was hoping many others would chime in and say that the dealer did this with no problem. Ya'll keep 'em coming if you've had this same deal.
Thanks
if you're gonna do the stage 1 anyway, why do you care? to be honest, i don't see the dealer replacing that under warranty. but hey, doesn't hurt to try i guess.

Because I'm only installing S/O's, not a 2 into 1 header. Was hoping to get the stock header replaced before I cool it down. It shouldn't happen after the Stage I.
It depends on the dealer. Some would say it's normal to do that (turn colors) By the way, if you're stone stock, that means the pipes are glowing red at times. If it were me, I wouldn't give the dealer another penny. Get yourself a Power Commander, and tune it yourself.

That pipe is going to discolor no matter what you do.....cover it up.
Are you talking about the heat shield before/after the bend or the header pipe at the bend? There isn't a heat shiled that comes stock at the bend. Harley does sell a continuous heat shield (stock on the CVO FLH's) that covers the stock header including the gap/bend. Kuryakyn sells a heat shield that just covers the gap.

It's the header at the bend between where the two heat shields have a gap. The heat shields are burned also.
