I was considering going up from 88" to 95". The local stealer mentions a set of heads made by Branch Flow Metrics. Parts & labor for $2600.00. 9 hrs. of labor @ 80.00/hr. Includes a TFI & Re-mapping. Does not include a set of pipes. Said these heads are better than the SE.
Anyone know if this sounds a bit high in price?
I have a '06 UC on order...trying to do some homework before delivery.
What are you looking to accomplish, max power or just a fun to ride bike? The Branch heads are great for power, but are they worth the cost when you could use S.E. Performance heads at a fraction of the cost and probelly notice little difference in everyday riding. S.E Heads sell for $600 at most dealers. You could probelly do your entire 95" build for the cost of the Branch heads alone. IMHO I don't think big buck heads are worth it unless you are going to track for max power. Go with the S.E. heads and save yourself a bunch of money. Is an extra 5 horse or so worth an extra grand? Just have the S.E. heads cleaned up. If you want more snap off the line also switch to 3:37 gears by swapping compensator gear and clutch basket gears.
I agree with jeepster09, or you can just send you stock heads off and have them worked for $750.00 and they will out perform a good set of SE. But the Brach heads are one of the top dogs, if $$$$ is no object then I would say go for it.
I had the BigBoar with 204 cams done at the dealer, out the door $1,524.15. They picked up the bike and delivered it when it was done. I have the EG Standard but changed it to an Ultra. The power is all I want and I am very happy.
Actually the price is right on, I am pretty sure the the SE heads mentioned are $600....each. Add the $1200 to the $1500 for the 95"kit and your $2600 is spot on.
Branch are good, you may want to look into J.E.T. Engineering in Westerly RI. also, another top shelf head supplier, maybe better than Branch.
The S.E.Performance Heads sell for $600.00 for PAIR, not each head.
Most shops in this area charge 8 hours for big bore upgrade and 3 hours for a cam install. Just ad in your local shop rate. Shop rates in Minnesota vary from $40.00 to $80.00 an hour. Do your homework and shop around. Remember a shop's reputation is sometimes worth paying extra for. The cheapest price is not always the best. Will they stand by their work if a problem arises?
Also remember that you are buying a caddilac for cruising, are you really going to be racing this bike with the other half on the reare seat and all the bags and tour pak full with 2 weeks worth of sh&t?
May want to just do the download air cleaner and slip ons for $900 complete for added pep before spending all that dough.
