I installed Dunlop Elite 3's when I installed the custom wheels and I can't say enough about the ride of these tires. Run smooth and straight. I highly recommend them, especailly if your running 16's...Putt
maineultraclassic, My understanding is that the E3 was developed for the honda gold wing. There are two kinds of E3s a bias ply and a radial.GWs are running radial tires now.H-D bikes get the bias plys. Some gold wing nut jobs are running car tires. From what im reading I gather that the E3 and the ME880 are excellant tires and a upgrade from stock OEMs.Both seem the handle grooved road surfaces better and give better handling in general.People seem to differ on mileage and how well they work in the rain. I dont feel theres any flys on the stock OEM Dunlop 402s.But mine are shot and I need to replace them.My gut check feelings are that the E3s and ME880s are engineered to a higher more modernstandardthan the older 402s.In theory that should make them "better". dave[sm=escape.gif]
I gotta be happy with the Dunlops - handle fine and got 35,000 out of stock front and 19,000 & 16,000 out of rears...
You have got to be kidding. 35k from a front and 19k out of a rear D402? You must ride off-road because nobody gets that from stock D402's.
I've gotten 35k on fronts routinely, but nowhere near 19k on rear. The best I did on the rear was 14.5k back in 1998, but they've changed the composition or something because my new bike's 402 is almost shot at 8600. It might make 10k, which isn't acceptable. It'll be Elite 3's next time, which reportedly do much better.
