I am considering buying a streetglide. It has the smoked low wind deflector. How do you like that style? Does it throw the wind up into your face? Does it cause less or more turbulance? Would I be better off with a taller windshield for highway riding?
My girlfriend has a SG, and the wind deflector doesn't help at all. Both she and I get a lot of wind right in our faces. I ordered a taller Clearview windshield for her bike, and still waiting for it to arrive. The height we ordered was 9.5 inches.

I am about 5'8" w/ a 30" inseam. The wind hits the top of my helmet. The buffeting is not bad, but a 6" would be the best for me. I would guess you would could use at least an 8" or better. Of course the slammed look of the SG then goes away. Form or function? Form or function?

you might look at Memphis Shades 9" replacement windshield. I got one with the black fade and really like it verses the SE low wind deflector. Memphis Shades let you polish scratches out or water sand and polis rock chips where you can't do that on the HD shields.
I went with a 8" Fastair shield with the recurve. I'm 6'1" and on a recent 3000 mile ride to Maine I didn't get hit with any bugs. Throws everything over my head.
I'm 5' 10" and the 4" windshield causes the wind turb. to hit me at eye level creating all kinds of problems with my glasses and my helmet. I just put an 8" on this morning butI have not had time to test it. I believe that I will still be able to see above the shield with the turb. going over my head. I'll get back with you tomorrow and give you a report.
