The seat width is the difference, if it measures 17.5 it is the ..03A and if only 17 it is the ...176. Both will fit your road glide if you don’t have a tour pak.

52000176 will fit with a tour pak. Fits no problemo on my 18'.
I'd say you're right. Without speaker pods, I can't see the tour pak being a problem on any seat.
I can't say for sure which is which, but the riders portion is a bit different on one of the seats. More/less of a wall behind the riders back.
I think the "potential problem" with using the earlier, slightly wider 52000003A on the 14+ Rushmore bikes is not so much the TP, but comes into play when using the quick disconnect brackets/kit for the TP. Could be a tight fit.
Also, as I understand when I was shopping for one, the earlier 52000003A version is also "cut" back almost an inch more than the later one. Makes a difference for us long legged riders so I have the 52000003A and couldn't be happier.
I just checked the site, and the hammock I have is 53051-09. It's listed as only for 2008 models with TP, so I assume it's a bit narrower? It's also of the flatter variety in the riders area.

^^^ this.
I have a 14 Limited and use the 00003 version. No problems at all and this earlier version gains you a little more legroom over the newer 176 model.
