I have removed the tour pak several times with no problem. From memory, access with the key is about the same on both sides, it’s a bit fiddly and only the short key can be used. I shortened the long key to use as a spare.
I have only tried this on my Road Glide tour pak so I am not sure if it will work with other accessories.

From what the dealer parts guy told me, they give you two so you can swap between a Tour-Pac and a Sissy Bar or the like.

Thank you for the feedback. I think your information is correct. I wish that fact was listed on the Harley-Davidson website. It really even does not appear in the installation instructions either. Those instructions only mention that only one is needed. So pretty much, if you prefer to go chrome on both latches and on the two different applications, you need to buy two non-locking sets as well. It is an assumption, but it may have been more expensive for the China supplier to create a locking left and right unit. It is a shame because the locking latches would have been more flexible when it comes to the installation for a few dollars. HD probably only buys the set for $10.

Did you not receive a set of non-locking latches with what ever accessory you were intstalling initially? My luggage rack came with latches. You should have only needed to buy the locking set if you wanted to lock the accessory.

I would rather buy just the one for half the price. In the UK this stuff is expensive, Ł81 for the locking latches.

As you can see, the sissy bar backrest , the latches are opposites. The tour pak, runs facing the same direction. The tour pak, I definitely need the shorter key to remove the lock. I always enjoy looking at pictures on the site , so I figured I would share!

The instruction call for only one to be fitted and keep the other for something else. As they are yours you are obviously free to do as you wish, just saying.
