This is just the stuff that stays in there every day, not a full load for a trip:
-Never the right tool, but a few of the wrong ones.
-Rain gear - you only forget that once in Washington
-Cell charger
-Micro fiber cloths
-Mequiars spray detail
-Zip ties - ya just never know
-PowerVision
-Gloves
-Clear glasses
Tire patch kit so hopefully I can limp to civilzation, yellow glasses in case I get caught in the dark. Baby wipes are incredibly handy. And a roll of toilet paper because when you need it, nothing else will do!
Small tool kit, sweatshirt, spare sunglasses, clear glasses (2-3 pair), couple hats, couple face masks, sunscreen, couple beers (or more), water, gloves, rain jacket, shorts (or pants depending on what I started with and what the weather is), purse (not mine), cigars, lighter(s), girlfriend's glasses or sunglasses, leather jacket. And whatever random items I might need for where I'm going or what I'm doing.
couple tools, couple micro fiber cloths assorted clear and shaded glasses a few dew rags and a cap for if it rains ( rain stings ) a sweat shirt year round (sometimes if you pick up someone at night they arent use to riding) spray on sunscreen highest spf i can find. gloves use to keep the air pump for the shocks but have since went with Progressive's (unless your lines are leaking really no need to keep it with you anyway), charger cord. i don't have a radio so i have a glove box area i keep ins reg in there and a pen or two, also room for my phone there ..

Most of my riding is local, so I don't bother with tools nor a tire patch kit. I'll carry my registration and proof of insurance as well as a cargo net. If I'm wearing a helmet with a smoked visor I'll carry the clear one in the saddle bags.
My first bike quickly got the worlds cheapest canvas saddlebags from Stansport. They held four empty gallon milk jugs. This served to bubble wrap the bike for a couple of parking lot drops.
