Default Stiff clutch

I've noticed when it's cold that my clutch is extremely stiff, even to the point of affecting throttling on power when first leaving my driveway. This has been a little problematic, I'm accelerating through the turn and power is delayed which has caused the bike to be unstable. (No falls thankfully.) It even makes it difficult to change gears after I am on the road. I live in the south so I'm not talking extreme cold just riding in temps ranging in the 30s and 40s.Later when it has gotten warmer the clutch operates normally. Does anyone know how to address this issue. The bike is an 09 Ultra by the way. Thanks for any help.

To me it sounds like the oil your running in the primary is a little thick with temps of 30 or so, do you warm the bike up some before you leave? JMO is all.

rk classic.

The OP didn't state what oil he is using in his primary or viscosity. As previously stated cold oil in the primary will have an effect on clutch operations until it's up to operating temperature. If this is a big concern then drop some 10W40 oil in the primary, the oil's primary job is to lubricate the chain then provide cooling for the clutch plates. You may also want to considering lubing the clutch cable.

I did take in consideration the OP's location, so once the temps start going up in the spring, change back to the previous oil.

Try lubing your cable.
