Anyone have a picture of the 55-56 "Vintage V Logo" on a newer bike? How about the shooting star logo? The original thread on shooting star logo is about 12 yrs old and most of the pictures are gone.
Trying to decide which tank logo I want after paint.
I always liked this one best and not sure exactly which one you mean.
That is my favorite as well. Ive got cvo style emblems on my RK now, but when I did the spike wheels and white walls im thinking these would continue the old school look.
Gbrown, That is the one. I've never seen them on a 5 or 6 gallon tank so was trying to get an idea of size in perspective. I like the shooting star emblem but the '56 emblem matches my birthday and the year of my Cessna 172.

That sounds as good a reason as any to select that emblem! Not quite the same situation by any means, but I have a 2009 6 gallon tank on my 1990 Glide and have installed the stock decals which came with my 5 gallon tank. Fresh from the painter:
I've put the old and new tanks beside each other and studied them closely, which may help you decide on adopting that V emblem. A US gallon is almost exactly a 6" cube, which H-D has managed to squeeze into the new tank, with very little change in profile. The overall dimensions of both are remarkably similar, the new one being a fraction of an inch longer at the front and an inch or so longer at the rear. Width is similar and the top surface of the new tank is bowed upwards a little, not flat, but IMHO most of the extra capacity comes from reduced cutaways in the underside, which we can't normally see. Hence my stock 5 gallon decal looks just fine on a 6 gallon tank - at least in my humble opinion! I'm sure you will at least as happy when you've installed your '56 emblems! I haven't studied '47 emblems to find my birth year....
