the police suppliment would tell you exactly what it is or was. I believe (if memory serves me right) it was the flashing red and blue lights hazard only (now called PASSING LAMPS on your bike). Then the full pursuit on was all lights siren. But after they rip the radio box, rear pole light and change the pursuit lights to just clear then removed the flash module as well.
So right now my pursuit / Aux position do the same - turn on the addition lights on the front that used to be red and blue. kinda like fog lights. I use them in the rain and sometimes night for better exposure only .
We also use the full on postion for the driving light, however, there is a midway position between Off and On the would seem to be availalbe for soemthing.
My '04 HD police service manual supplement's wiring diagram shows the AUX switch is for the pole lamp. It' s the Gn/R wire in slot 9 of the right handlebar Deutsch connector which goes eventually to the siren amplifier connector 70B and from there to the pole lamp.
My post was done after looking at three different wiring diagrams. Started at the wiring diagram for the handlebars switches; then went to the Interconnect wiring diagram where it shows the right handlebar connection--which shows the Gn/R wire running to the Siren/Amplifier connector; then went to the Siren/Amplifier wiring diagram which shows the Gn/R wire going to the pole lamp.
Not difficult; just tedious.
Also, in the two+ years I have owned my '04 FLHTPI I have changed the handlebar switches to civilians, eliminated the clutch interlock, added the EG civilian Base Audio Connector (to have handlebar controls of the stereo headunit using the Biketronics interface), added HD cruise control, and a few other electrical changes so by necessity I have become familiar with the wiring--my civilian and police HD service manuals look as heavily used as a **** magazine at a boys camp.
