I just have to make sure my wife doesn’t see this thread, it will be hard explain why I need a new Street Glide in the future to keep the miles down on my RK.
95 Softail Lots of miles, lots of aftermarket parts, lots of problems
03 FLHT I sold with 50k - replaced a primary tensioner, and trans seal at 49k
09 FXDL 48k - no problems. The cam chain tensioners looked new at 47k
14 FLHT 45k - no problems, runs fantastic, only issue is elect. cruise control quit working
104,000 + miles on my 2014 FLHXS, runs perfectly still, several long rides planned for the coming Spring/Summer. All maintenance done by dealership, and under Boardtracker ESP until Spring 2021. By far the best bike I have ever owned.
I rebuilt my 08 at 112,000. It was still running but was puffing a little smoke if i twisted the throttle in neutral. If I rode everyday I didn't notice it but if it sat a week, the lifters would clatter for a minute or two. Could have kept going but I had the money in the bank and was ready for cams and a bump to 103.
My indy said it was in great shape internally other than the lifters and the smoke was coming from worn valve guides. He did tell me the primary tensioner fell apart into pieces when he took the tension off of it.
Not a Touring bike but my 2007 Softail Standard (not any more) had 70,000 miles on it when I sold it in 2015. The only issue I had was to replace the Stater and a Main Shaft barring. Picture was for fun because it was 88888 km
, lucky numbers in Japan are 7 but I missed my chance so I took it when it hit 8"s. That's little over 55,000 miles.
I guess my 56,000 on my 01 RK isnt much, I run about 5,000 miles a year. I change engine oil every 2,500, primary 5,000, and tranny 10,000 or once a year.
the age is the issue with that bike, not the miles. You have the better bearings.
