Default High Mileage

For those that have high mileage on their touring bikes what kind of miles do you have and still running good?

Had 107,000 miles on my 2003 RKC when I sold it this summer. I did 85K on factory 95" and did a top and bottom rebuild to 107" when the 95" was feeling a bit tired and just starting to use a little oil.

I have around 150,000 miles on a 1998 Ultra with the EVO. I’ve seen 179,000 miles on a 90’s Tour Glide while back.

My opinion.....it’s easier to keep a bike going for many years especially Harleys considering the aftermarket. Not much to it.....engine, transmission, frame, 2 wheels....etc.

Look at keeping a vehicle for many years.....more wheels, power steering, A/C, windows....just a lot more stuff to go out that bikes simply don’t have.

2005 Road Glide, bored out to 95" when brand new at the dealership. 75k miles and counting, zero issues. Did cam swap at about 50k with all the usual chain tensioner, cam plate stuff. Transmission all original except for stripping the shifter pawl once. Original clutch and primary. All about the maintenance and not beating the snot out of them. Big move last winter was replacing the swing arm bearings, bitch of a job but no real $$$ spent. We are planning a cross country trip for this summer on that bike, that will get her in the last of the 48 lower states, she will have been in all 48 under her own power. Told the wife no new bike until after that milestone, but I honestly do not see the need to spend the money. Bike still looks great, does everything I need her to do and gives me no grief.

Maybe if I purged all my bikes, I would get something new, but for now with my current selection, a new bike makes no sense.

2013 Ultra Limited, Just over 105,000 miles and still running strong. In fact my last compression check showed no change from when it was done at 60,000 miles. I'm guessing I'll hit 150K easy and possibly even 200K with proper maintenance.

I guess my 56,000 on my 01 RK isn’t much, I run about 5,000 miles a year. I change engine oil every 2,500, primary 5,000, and tranny 10,000 or once a year.

I had 140K on my '14 Limited when I traded it in. Still ran as strong as day one. Never went into the motor. Only traded in because I ran out of ESP.
