Default Longblock Program Question

Long story short, my 2010 Ultra is getting a new engine (along with a compensator and clutch). This work is being done by a HD dealership. What happens with the original engine that they are removing? Do I take it home with me? Any special requests I should make?

If anyone has done this before, what did you do?

I was thinking:
  • Make a cool coffee table
  • Sell it as scrap
  • A water feature for my yard
  • Actually see if I can resurrect it and start a project bike...

that'll be hard to do. with the long block program, the dealership ships the left side of the case back to hd. the new engine will have the same vin as your engine.

I believe they keep your engine and send it in.

Is it being done under warranty? Otherwise it is hard to believe someone would be paying a dealer that kind of money and not have a grasp of the terms of the sale...

They send the left case to HD-and should give all remaining parts to the customer- make sure they replace the oil tank and oil cooler (if equipped) to prevent contaminating the new engine.

Thanks! But now I have to search about oil coolers... ultimately that will equate to more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I thought they quit rebuilding twin cams a few years ago? Is this a new project?
