This option looks absolutely perfect for what I am looking for :

EDIT: Having second thoughts on this option as dont think I will be able to reach the camera to activate it when riding...

Now thinking option below would be better, I could mount the clamp on the handlebar uprights and then position the rails upright, camera should clear my windscreen

I have this mounted on the mirror stem, on the side of the nut. Pretty discrete. Use a short arm to help keep the vibration down.

I use. a RAM mount with a combination of knuckles to not only raise the GoPro about the fairing for a clearer line of sight but to also allow me to mount my phone to the same mount simultaneously. It uses wha they call the perch mount bolt that goes directly into the master cylinder. When not using the GoPro or phone for that matter, all I do is loosen the knuckles by hand and remove them for a nice, clean look.

Only question I have is, is the mirror stem bolt long enough to bolt it down securely?
I am veering towards this option, or brake/clutch or the offset reservoir mount ( https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-346U) with a short arm, all look discrete options

Cool

This is the style I referred to above, neat and tidy and black! Take a look through their umpteen optional 'ball base products' for many other solutions. I installed mine with some double-sided tape to add a little extra confidence. That was about three years ago!

I like something that doesn't use a claw mount that even a casual walk by could remove very easily.

Graham that mount seems to get mixed reviews from it being a bit weak and allows a camera to vibrate.

I like the Rick Rack GoPro mounts. They have them for street glides and road glides that use a windshield bolt to mount to. That is what I have used for 3 years now on my road glide. They have several choices and are well made.

Andy, it's fine for a gps, with a very short arm, but I haven't tried it with a camera. RAM also do a neat 2-bolt clamp, which looks more robust. I agree with you about the claw clamps, almost as ugly as the awful U-bolt things - neither of which is going any where near any bike of mine! I buy my RAM stuff rom RAM UK direct, as they have much more stock than dealers seem to keep.
