Default Help Determining Bar Dimensions

I'm planning to put 12" bars on my Street Glide, but I'm lost as to the width, pullback and rise I should be shopping for. I'm one of those people who have to try everything on to know what fits. However, the factory bars are VERY comfortable and would be fine if they were just taller. No other changes. Is there a site or spec sheet somewhere on the 'net that shows the width, pullback and rise of the factory bars?

I have extensions on the ends of my grips, so it's not as easy as measuring; I would have to take the grips off to get good numbers. It would be nice if I could find specs on the factory bars, b/c J&P has a $30 coupon good today only.

Some handle bar sites have pictures showing how to exactly measure your bars.

From the research I've done, you will not be able to get much EXTRA pullback if you install any of the Ape Hangers. Basically they just raise the grips and look cool.

There was a time when Harley dealers had a 'fit centre' or something similar, where you could compare bars on a mule bike. If they still do that you may be able to try out some H-D accessory bars for size?

Well, well, well; lookee here. It doesn't go up to my model, but it gives a lot of good information about stock bars on other bikes and goes up to '13 on the FLHX ...

So exactly WHY are you wanting to change them?

Shoulder pain and ease of manhandling that additional 100+ lbs of bike. I can whip the FXDC all around with 12" bars, but the FLHX is sluggish and makes me strain to lean from side to side at lower speeds. Mostly leverage, but also shoulder comfort for long rides.

[QUOTE=SoGMostly leverage, but also shoulder comfort for long rides.[/QUOTE]

Im thinking that additional width would increase leverage more than height

The mule mentioned by mr brown was like a sawhorse with multiple mounting points for different bar , seat and peg options for different models
havent seen one in awhile

this is from the 2020 parts and accessories catalog, may or may not have what you're looking for. could also try some of the older p&a catalogs, they may have other bars listed that they don't sell anymore.
