Default load compensator for 16 FLHR Road King

Will a load compensator/equalizer be needed on my 2016 Road King if I switch the stock filament bulbs for LED bulbs?? Link is an example of what I am thinking of getting. Also thinking of getting an LED bulb for the tail light. Anyone ever try this setup on their bikes??

Canbus bikes don't need a load equalizer....

After install, just run the 4-way flashers (I forgot how long, 1 minute I believe) and then the ECM will adjust to the lower draw of the LED bulbs...

Some have noted they didn't need to run the flashers to synch the new LEDs to the ECM, but the 4-way flashing is a recommended procedure.

Custom Dynamics is a major vendor for LED bulbs for Harley Motorcycles. Here is their instructions to sync the LEDs to the ECM

"Some Harley-Davidson models equipped with canbus/BCM electrical systems while installing Custom DynamicsŽ LED turn signals in place of incandescent bulbs, will need to perform a turn signal sync so that the product will function properly with the system.

Turn Signal Sync Procedure
  1. Turn Ignition on, but do not start the bike.
  2. Turn on 4 way hazards by pressing the hazard button on the controls.
  3. Turn the Ignition off letting hazards run. IF the bike has security they will flash 5 or 6 times and then pause. This is normal. They will go back to flashing normal hazard mode.
  4. Let hazards run 1-2 minutes.
  5. Turn Ignition back on.
  6. Turn off hazards.
  7. Turn Ignition off and then back on.
  8. Check function of both turn signals."

Thank you for confirming.
