Default SG owners question

Ok so I go to the dealer today and pickup a simple license plate frame HD# 60051-01 and get this .... I cant figure out how to put it on!!! The PN comes up in accesories for a 07 SG on HD website. The top holes on the frame will not line up because it hits the rear tailight at the top and the lip on the bottom bracket isnt wide enough to accept the plate and the frame.......tell me im not an idiot !!!

TIA

I've always had a chrome frame around my plate, until I got a Street Glide. As far as I can tell, you can only mount the upper holes in the plate, since there is that lip on the bottom of the bracket that holds the bottom of the plate. I threw in the towel and just mounted the top with 2 chrome bullet-head screws.

I think it's the same for all of us. I just have the top two screws through my chrome frame and plate. It has not fallen off yet.

Kurakyn offers the only custom frame that I've heard about. Be sure to get the new, improved model from them as there has been problems with them breaking off and the license plate being lost. Do a search and you will find plenty of info regarding this frame.

I now have the Kuryakyn curved bracket and it looks cool. Prior to that I widened the lower holes in my license plate. I used flat head screws and chrome acorn nuts in the bottom holes amd was able to line the plate holes and the bracket holes up, but it was just for show because they didn't attach to anything.
