Default Baffles stuck

Recently installed extended bags on my 16 SGS and they stick out further than my muffler tips so I bought some new tips from Perf.Machine that are longer than the ones on V&H 4" eliminators.Done everything but put a pipe wrench on the Originals tips (which are only 1/2" long on the outer muffler).I've pulled the 2 bolts that keep the baffles in on the bottom.I've beat on the ends with a rubber mallet and they wont budge. Any tips to pull these suckers?Maybe ride the bike til they're hot and try to pull or rotate em to loosen? I did do a search and nothing came up.And yes I did spray with lubricant ,WD-40 & some other spray lube.

I had issues getting my Cobra baffles out to rotate the slash cut tips. With WD-40, determination and heating the muffler from the outside with a hairdryer to expand the outer portion I was able to get them out. It was very frustrating.
Good luck!

I'm not familiar with the design of the V&H baffles ... but I've ran across stubborn baffles before ... Take the mufflers off the bike and secure them in your vice ( careful with the chrome ) ... Hopefully by looking in the inlet end you have access to the baffle ... spray some penetrating/lubricating oil in the and use a very long drift or preferably a long piece of wood ( the wood won't be so apt to deform the baffle ) a proceed to persuade the baffle to come out ... Work on both the inlet end and then the outlet end alternating and you should be successful ... I know that the Rush baffles have a piece of steel in the baffle that offers something to hit on ... Good Luck

Yep ... a slide hammer could do the job ... but i'd be leery of doing it on the bike ... I'd still suggest removing the mufflers

Looks like that is gonna have to be the tool to use.You don't happen to know where he got the hook part of that slide hammer do you? Tried again last night to twist it which I was able to twist the left side but only about an inch.Sprayed more lube on it but that's not helped much. Those tips looke exactly like mine but the baffle is different.

Yeah I got the bearing remover from harbor freight it came with everything you need . then at home depot I bought the threaded rod same thread size . If i remember right it was a 3/8" threaded rod, and two washers and two nuts on the end to stop the hammer. all said and done I was into it about 25 dollars. But I have used it over and over through the years. Works perfect.
Buy the bearing puller first and bring the hook part with you to home depot or wherever and then make sure you can thread the hook part on the rod you buy.
