Has anybody tried a Clearview recurve windshield ? ? ? are they any better than the OEM type for an EGC.
I like mine very much. It's an 8" smoked with recurve, which is right for me at 5' 10". The upside is that they are cheaper than the HD shields and don't have the optical distortion. I look over mine, but when I need to look through it I don't want it distorting the view. The downside to the CV is that it may take two months to receive, as they make them to order and are apparently always backlogged. It took about 30 days to get mine, which was ordered last November, not exactly the peak motorcycle season. I would say it is worth the wait.
When you guys bought your Clearviews, did you go an inch or two shorter than the stock HD windshield you replaced? I ask, as part of their advertising claims that the recurve portion directs the airflow 1 1/2 - 2 inches higher.
My stock shield is a 12 inch shield (is actually 11 inches above the fairing), and I would like to go about 2 inches shorter. I see over it fine, with the exception of in hilly terrain, where my field of view is right at the upper edge.
After a lot of looking around with no success, can some one please tell me where or how to order one of the CV recurve windshields, I think this is something that I would like after all the rave reviews they have been getting.
Dashoe31 go to www.clearviewshields.com and you can order online. Great service. I ordered a 6" (which was in stock) and I should have ordered an 8". Called John up and he said no problem, gave me a RA # and put in the new order. He said they are about 2 weeks out on 8" smoked recurve. He said they are trying to run extras when they run orders. Just my .02
Thanks Everyone!! I talked to my very uinderstanding wife and I thinkI'm going to order one. She is very supportive of my chrome (and all things that make the bike better)addiction .
