I was fine, but the bike was not so much. I was able to let the insurance take the bike while i took the $$, but i also kept tabs on the carcass and was able to buy it back at the insurance auction. The price I bought it for was substantially less than insurance was going to withhold if i kept it out-right. I had thoughts of either rebuilding it or parting it out and trying to make money. The more I looked it over, the more the damage appeared to be fixable. Once torn down things were ordered and a fluid plan was put in place. The hardest part to find, at least at the time, was a good Road King tank. Once I found a tank that dictated what color I was going to go with for the rest of the bike.
Found a Flame Blue Pearl tank on the eBay and was blown away by the condition it was in. Was literally in factory condition inside and out. Moved the guts from the old demolished tank to the new, adding new filter, quick-disconnect and gasket.
With the tank in-hand I began the process of finding matching fenders/side panels. Between the eBay, these forums, the Facebook and Craigslist i was able to get everything including saddlebag mounts, crashbar and other assorted bits. While parts were being collected I tore the forks off to ensure they are straight (they are), and completely bled both front/rear brakes.
Now I only have a few smaller things left to finish (Nacelle, exhaust shields, etc) and then I can road test. Weather depending I can get it on the road next weekend. So, a big thanks to all here who have offered well-wishes after the accident, advice during the rebuild and especially those I have sourced parts from here. We are truly a great little community and I have yet to have a bad interaction buying from members here.
This is what it looked like before
A passer-by snapped some pics while I was being loaded into the ambulance. Bike looked pretty bad at the scene.
The bike at the tow yard 2 days after the incident.
The carcass at auction, IAA yard about 100 miles from my home.
The tear-down began and parts were sourced.
Finally rolled out into the sun last week.

I also did swap to the SG wheels before. I wasn't a fan of the spoke look nor the idea of touring and not being able to plug a small hole on the side of the road. I have always preferred tubeless and the improved look of the SG wheels. Didn't particularly like the increased harsh ride of the lower profile tire, but I guess it's a small price to pay.
