Fuel Tank Liner
Trying to keep OP tank.
Any help would be appreciated.
Clean it up, reinstall and always keep the tank topped off.

Moonraker..
Reminds me of a set of beams I had when I was into the CB craze years ago.

I did have to completely go thru the pump so it would be nice to get the bulk of it out.
Was planning to reline after?
Thanks.
Spent many all nighters chatting all over. Was a fun era...and we did not have to learn morse code
Sorry to hijack the OP subject. JUst a thought. Could not the interior of the tank be sand blasted? I know it is interior and may be a little eaiser said then done, but a good shop should have flexable nozzles to do the job. Might be worth checking out.

I bought a 2001 FXSTS about 18 months ago... It only had 9.8K miles. Obviously it had spent a lot of time "just sitting"...
I had to completely disassemble & clean the carb... and my tank liner was peeling...
I sealed the tank openings, with some #6 shot inside the tank. I wrapped it well, in several blankets, so it fit snuggly in the dryer and wouldn't flop around. I then put the dryer on slow spin and let it spin for about 45 minutes..
When done, there were blotchy parts of the tank where the liner didn't come off the tank, but all the loose stuff was removed from the tank wall. I flushed/cleaned the tank well.... put it back together... and keep it topped off.
I haven't had an issue with the pieces of liner that stayed attached to the tank.
I haven't had an issue with any rust/corrosion.
The bike is running well...
I also cleaned out the petcock, fuel line, and rebuilt the carb. The crap from the tank had been settling down in the carb.
