leather bags lid hitting sissy bar/luggage rack
I have the leather bags on the RK Custom and even with the spacers (provided with the kit) behind the attachment bracket, when I open the top lid,the lidhits the V cover plate where the sissy bar and luggage rack attach. I ended up installing a strap on the inside of the bag to prevent the lid from opening too far, preventing the lid from hitting the sissy bar. I made it out of thin plastic coated fishing line leader and used crimp ends to secure it to the latch assembly on both thebag and the lid. I still have rubbing taking place on the side covers and have tried loosening and repositioning the bags so they don't rub, but haven't figured it out yet. Was thinking I may need to shim the front attachment of the bottom bar out to move the bags off the side covers. Getting ready to head out to my garage after typing this to keep trying. Anyone else having this problem with their leather bags and the same detachable sizzy bar/luggage rack combo?
