It seems not too many people run the Shinko tires, but I have since my stock Dunlop wore out (2011 Road King Classic). I usually average around 8,000 - 10,000 miles from a set, but I ride pretty conservatively and usually two up. They are a softer compound, so more aggressive riders will go thru them faster. But for the price, I think they are a great tire, have good grip, come in wide whitewall and ride smooth. I change my own tires so I also use Dyna-beads for balancing (with spoke wheels, so they are in the inner tubes). Personally, I think this is a great combination of tire and balancing technique.

But back to your original question; If the thump wasn't there before you changed the tire, I would think it's tire related. If that's the case, I would have the tire and balancing re-checked.

I had the idea of pulling the clutch in while riding why I didn't do that sooner. I can feel it any lower speeds too like a thumping feeling. Guess it's just amplified x10 on the highway.

Not tread wear, tire stress on the sidewalls if it's been run low on pressure. Also, don’t dismiss the possibility of a defective tire. The air valve position is a little suspicious.
I had a new Dunlop start splitting inside of the tread and delaminating from the belt after 600 miles. It was covered but I will never use Dunlop’s.

Oh ok gotcha. What's your thoughts on what I posted about pulling the clutch in. Feel it even low speeds. Makes me think tire even more

If it’s thumping when you pull the clutch in it’s probably the tire. Running low on air pressure is one of the worse thing structurally you can do to a bike tire. It’s bad on a car tire but a bike tire is worse.

Are you saying when you checked the pressure it was at 35 PSI?
What do you typically run?
In my oem dunlops i run 38 front cold.
I can't picture how the sidewall could possibly be damaged running just a few psi low.
If you say it was less than 30, maybe...but you'd feel that, especially low speed turning, font tire would feel like a marshmallow.

Two guesses, either our of balance, easy fix, or slight high spot.
I had a slight high spot on the front commander 2 I had on my metric cruiser years ago.
Swapped it out, no issues after.

Good luck.

Jack the bike up so the front wheel is off the ground. Spin the wheel and look at the tire. If you have a high spot / slipped belt it should be easy to spot.

Yeah it was 35 when I checked it. I bumped it up to 38 still have the issue. Pull the clutch in at lower speeds and I feel it. Definitely a "rotating" feeling . Dropping it off in the morning to get the tires checked .

Thanks .

Give everyone an update. Replaced the front engine mount which had some excess play and re balanced the front tire. Rides like a dream. Went with a stiffer engine mount, feel some lower end vibration but overall just more solid. Highway riding is beautiful.
