Went for a quick ride. ABS light is on and it’s dropped a few drops of oil after sitting in the garage for 30 minutes. Will investigate tomorrow

Lots of SG seats on eBay. I just got one for $100.
Plenty of Tourpak detach stuff on there too..

Enjoy your bike, looks like a beaut!

I think the EGS was strictly for those who wanted a bike to bring home and go full custom.
Sounds like he didnt do his research then. It is pretty clear that the cover is polished aluminum. Says it on the site, and you can visually see it. If its rusting, then there is either a paint or a chrome issue, and that needs to be brought to the dealer's attention. If he wanted a radio, he should have bought a bike with one. For the record thougth, the street glide with the 6.5 BOOM thing, is about 4 grand more expensive. You can get a double din android auto/apple carplay ready radio, same size, better speakers, for $1100 from fathead cycles. Two hours, you can put it in yourself. Not sure why you need to change the inner fairing...its the same inner fairing as the street glide. Its marketed without any passenger stuff at all....so, why is he upset at that???
If your buddy has buyer's remorse, its because he didnt know what the hell he was buying. None of those are a surprise, except the rust (which would be a warranty issue).
Comparison:
EGS: $19k
SG (with the bigger radio option): $23k
Thats a 4 grand difference.
Now, to put passenger floorboards on, and a two up seat, as well as a backrest and mounting brackets-new HD stock, probably cost you, say $1500. Radio, another $1100. So you are now into it for $2600-and still ahead of the game by $1400.
And thats provided you go with just the black SG. Aluminum polish, two hours worth of work, and sealing the aluminum, costs you $15 and a couple beers.
Your money, your choice. I chose the EGS because I could make it mine, cheaper than a SG would be to upgrade. And have a better bike (in my opinion of course)

could be the drain plugs or inner primary seal ...I hope you get it squared away. Still I think it was a good trade.. Beautiful bike and I would ride it like it is for a while to see if you actually like it like it is. You might be surprised.

Looks good. You'll be happy getting 2 bikes in 1. In the early 2000s, my cousin had an electra glide that he stripped down to a street glide look before the street glide was out. In 2005 I bought an electra glide with the same intention but after 1 ride my wife said we're not getting rid of the tourpack. I've had EGs with detachable tour packs ever since. When she's with me, I put the tourpack and original seat on but when I'm out on my own I remove the pack, change the seat and go all in just a couple minutes.

I absolutely will. Not in a rush at all, riding season is around the corner and I have the whole season to figure out what I like and don’t

Hundred mile loop, I’m in love. Abs light comes and goes. Wasn’t on for most of the ride but was here and there. At 6ft the bars are a little low but I can’t find a kit to work with ABS models? Thinking 12” apes

only other thing was I noticed a bit of front to back slack in the shifting linkage. Over a half inch front to back. Normal?

It's a beauty. I can't seem to send you a private message but I have everything you'll need for quick detach on the tour pack off of my '13EG. It's setting in my shed (traded recently) and I'll sell it to you cheap. Rack, mounting points, some wiring disconnects, mounting points, etc. Send me a PM if you're interested and I'll see what all I have and we'll talk details.
