Hey guys and gals. I am looking to purchase my first Harley. Ive had a few different bikes in the past and figured its time I move on to the good side of Motorcycles haha. I have been searching and finally found what I think is a good deal. Its an 09 Ultra Classic with 62000 miles on it. The pictures look really clean.
The engine was just rebuilt with a 2 up cam at a HD dealer. It also has a street glide suspension with the wheels and a fuel pack that was also installed at a dealer. It has pretty much everything that I want and it is big enough because I am not a small gentleman. It was originally listed for 9k and has just dropped to 7k$$$. Im looking for opinions because Im not the best at figuring out if its a good deal or not. I think it is, but help me out here. Thank You!!!!!
I dont think so. Why was it re built at only 62,000 miles? On the other hand, most folks would consider 62 k a lot of miles, generally speaking. That should be a tough sell . I would much prefer a totally stock bike, Un-molested. There are thousands of them out there. If you really like it, offer 5500 and see what happens.
Keep in mind that so- called upgrades, added goodies ect. Add nothing to the bikes value. If a particular item is something you dont want, it will COST you money to change it, that detracts from the value. JMHO Good Luck!
PS - Street Glides dont ride good, or so Im told.
Sounds like a decent price to me. Already rebuilt. Low retail says $7100 and average is $9400. 2 years ago when I was looking Ultras were about $10,500. I paid 8500 for my 2008 Classic.
If it’s a full top end rebuild I would say it sounds like a good deal.
Top End Rebuild would probably include cams and 103 big bore.
What cams? What was done on the rebuild?
A 103 with Andrews, Woods, Or another reputable cam co. would make it a good runner and a good deal. I’d go through it and make sure everything is good to go.
Electra Glides are great bikes, but, I'd take more time to look around and find something stock and unmolested unless you can be sure that the rebuild is solid. Good luck!
Thank You guys! I appreciate the input. Like I said it just caught my eye it has everything I am looking for and
is towards the lower end of the price range. I am still looking for other bikes though around me. I think the Electra Glide is for sure what I want.
They dropped it from $9K because that was an outrageous price for that bike/mileage, not because they are giving you a "deal"..... At that mileage I believe $7K is still a bit high.... as someone mentioned, there are a lot of much lower mileage bikes out there in all years/forms... It is a buyer's market right now for baggers...
Additionally....
What is a "2-up" cam....??? I'd want to know the make/model of the cam.... Then you can research and see how it actually affects the bikes' power/torque curves v OEM...
If you are not a "small gentlemen", the the Street Glide suspension is not necessarily a good thing... it lowers the suspension, which looks cool..... but it also decreases the stroke of the rear shocks/front forks, and gives a stiffer ride than a non-Street Glide, OEM touring frame ...
