Since there isn’t a lot to do in the world at this moment I decided to catch up on some maintenance the last two weeks.
Changed fork oil to 15 wt. big improvement.
Changed shock oil to ATF, not much improvement. Will try some 10 weight. Easy to do with a mighty vac.
Changed primary oil. Didn’t get to it last fall.
Checked slack in primary chain.
Adjusted clutch.
Lubed clutch cable and perch. Big improvement. Easier pull, like butter.
Replaced torn clutch cable grommet thru inner fairing.
Lubed saddlebag hinges, very smooth and quiet.
Changed spark plugs.
Discovered boot missing off of trip meter re-set. Ordered a new one.
Maybe a couple more small things, can’t remember.
None of this stuff is very hard. There are YouTube videos on all of it. When I read the manual sometimes my head spins, then i watch a video and it all makes sense. I am by no means a mechanic, but I can do SOME stuff. I might even change handlebars this year.
Heading over to the dealers this week to pick up my oil . All I have to do is the 3 oil change and brake flush . I should finally be able to ride in a couple of weeks , it's been a long winter .

What are you working on right now ?
Like you, I am a visual person.... I can learn more, and faster by watching something, than by reading it...
You tube videos have helped me with my Harleys, as well as fixing my dishwasher 2x, and my clothes washer once... saved a bunch on home service calls...
Back to the Harleys... one thing I use a lot is the parts manual... I have the Service Manual AND Parts Manual (by HD only) for each year/model of HD I own... the exploded diagrams in the parts manual, along with the directions in the service manual have been a great combo on many jobs I've done for the first time...
During the down time....
I decided to add the solid, 32-tooth engine sprocket to my bagger last week.... Love the new gear ratio...!!
