Looking to replace my stock seat from the old 2003 FLHTCI. It's original and it's broken down pretty good.
Research shows the Mustang seats to be the leading candidate with maybe a Corbin unit. I know this is like an "oil thread" but I just got to ask before I lay out that much cash. Any guidance from those with saddle time will be much appreciated.
i've got a mustang i bought for my 2013 FLHTK. I used it for a while but it sits on the shelf and i sit on a Day Long. I also bought a harley touring seat and its on the shelf. i keep going back to my day long by russell. its comfort at its best.
Have some pelvic issues making sitting difficult. went with a hammock seat a couple years ago. Much nicer. Had a stock seat modified by mean city. Enjoyed that until I started having issues. The hammock is somewhat the solution.
Been riding a Mustang for a few years now, and I can tell you its a vast improvement over stock. My stock seat crushed down and was like sitting on the seat pan. It was also round under my a&&. The Mustang is flat in that area and much more comfy. Like you I did tons of research before purchase and decided on a Mustang. Go to a bike show, or the nearest dealer and set on some used bikes. They usually have aftermarket seats on them.
I like Mustang, owned several, but every butt is different. Corbin makes beautiful seats but they are on the firm side for my personal taste. Hopefully you wont have to go through too much trial and error to find the one for you. It can get expensive. But once you find the right one, you'll never have a stock or even HD seat again.
Consider the custom seat makers you can find here. You can call them, talk to them about what you liked about your last seat and what you didn't and they will build a seat for you with the materials, style, and fit you want. The prices are comparable to Mustang and Corbin and you will have something unique that fits you. I am leaning that way if I ever buy a new bike.
