Default High Beam Indicator Stays On?!?!?!

Greetings,
Riding around yesterday after work in the warm Northeast weather I noticed that when I started my bike the highbeam indicator remained on. I flipped the low/high switch and the indicator light didn't go out. I did change the battery the day before due to dying on me this past weekend. Has this happened to anyone else before with the high beam indicator? The voltage gage shows the charging system is working. Someone did mention to me that my low beam was dim?!?!? Looks fine to me. Any help or suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!
Thanks.

Default RE: High Beam Indicator Stays On?!?!?!

This is an old posting, but I've got the same problem. When I start the bike the high beam indicator light is on regardless of the position of the high beam switch. Moving the switch from low to high makes no difference in the indicator light but it causes a weird thing to happen out front - in the low position with the passing lamp switch on the headlamp is NOT lit and the passing lights are on. With the high beam switch on high the headlamp is lit and the passing lamps are on and brighter than normal! Voltmeter is showing normal at 14+ volts and everything else seems normal. CrazyMC got no replies to his question. Anyone have any ideas now?
Thanks

No idea. I have never seen or heard of that one.

On a lighter side, when my old ladies high beam indicator stays on, I turn up the heat. Hey, I just figured a little humor would help.

Check you fuse's. I know this is going to sound strange but you could have a blown fuse and the power is back feeding through something else. I had this happen on a GMC Jimmyone time, if I opened one of the doors the radio station indicator lights would go out and if I pushed in the cigarette lighter the dome light would come on, but weak. I spent a week chasing this thing around and all along it was a bad fuse. Electricity will seek a ground wherever it can.
Just thought I would throw that out there, I hope it helps.

Took the bike in to Bobby's Territorial Harley Davidson and showed 'em the problem. A mechanic said he thought it was a melted headlamp socket, and that is exactly what it was. They replaced the socket under warranty. Problem solved. I hope CrazyMC got his fixed.

Default Headlight indicator dim and low beam very week

As many said here before me, it's a wrong ground.
Just opened my headlight to find the light-bulb socket was fried.
I replaced it and then the low light was very week and the headlight indicator light would light up very dim on low lights and regularly with the high beam.

Opened it up again and noticed I wired the socket incorrectly.
if your looking at the socket with the headlight connected and pointing away from you the wires from the back-end should go like this:
* Ground should go to the left side and not right.
* High beam + should go to the top.
* Low beam + should go to the right.

hooked it all back up, and no more problems
P.s - another symptom of this if you look closely at the headlight is that when your switch is set to low beam, both the bulb hot-wires light up. this is not how low and high beams work.
they should alternate: low beam only and High beam only should light up separately.

Hopes this helps

Adam
