Default Maximizing comfort, bars or seat first?

My Street bob just sold, so I can now justify putting a little money in my 2011 Road Glide. I know I want a seat that sits me back further, and I probably want bars that take my hands from about lower chest level to upper chest level. I watched a video on YouTube that was on this specific topic and the guy said you should purchase bars before you do a seat, so I wanted to know which was logically better to replace first, considering changing out one will affect the layout of the other?

As of right now I’m eyeing a mustang super touring seat, possibly heated. Bars on the other hand I am clueless about, my only hope is that I can keep my stock wiring / plumbing. I am 6’0 and 185 pounds

I just got a new seat, bars are next, I’m gonna adjust the bars to where I sit.

My pure guess would be seat first. When you get in a car that's not yours you adjust the seat first, then mirrors and steering wheel. And that's the only reason why I say seat first, it seems logical.

100% handlebars. It changes everything. Don't get me wrong a good seat definitely helps but the right set of bars can take a bike you cant ride for 20 minutes and turn it into something you cant get off of. For example the stock bars on my streetglide were a total nightmare. Back pain, arms/ wrist position was awful. Changed bars to wild 1 chubbys 10 inch apes and its like I went to the chiropractor and they gave me a new back for riding.

Comfortable seat first. If I had gotten bars (apes) first with the hard low profile seat the bike came with, I probably would have gone with 10's or 12's which would be in my lap now using the thicker seat I'm running. My seat is pretty thick. Makes my 14" apes more like 12's...

I see no logic in choosing bars before seat.

FWIW - My bike had the H-D Tallboy seat with KST 12" bars when I bough it and I love it. I'm 5'8" 190# and all I had to do was adjust the bars back about 2-3 inches from where the 6' 3" (maybe taller) 300# plus guy who owned it before me had it set. It also came with the fully adjustable rider backrest mount. I later bought the backrest and I'm still deciding if I'm gonna keep that configuration or go with a conventional backrest.

both,
comfort has a lot to do with sitting position. Changing the bars will change your seating position and may make your seat good or worse. I changed both

Default Comfort

Seat first, bars and grips next, then highway pegs, decat the pipe next followed by rear shocks then the front suspension..

I like the seat on my 2020 RGS, but the bars are miserable. I am not a big guy (just under 200 pounds) so I went with bars first.
