I bought a 2000 flhrci late in the fall. The top of the leather/plastic saddlebags has warped. I have seen similar distortion in online photos. Is there a fix for this? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks
The top does not appear to be warped based on picture.
Some bags when exposed to intense heat develop damaged sunken warped lids.
Can not see lids but i guess you do not have that problem.
From picture it looks like the top lip part of bottom part of the bag.
The Road King Classic leather bags are composed of a semi rigid plastic that is then bonded with leather.
I am the original owner of a 1998 and the bags looked and still look the same as when new.
They have always had that slight inward curve and that is most likely because they are not a thick hard plastic bag.
I like that bags have some flex because i can adjust buckles and allow lid to sit higher while also over stuffing them when extra space is needed.
FYI-You may wish to consider changing out at least one zeus fastener in each bag to a button head allen and J-nut.
It will be a bit more secure.
Also in case someone offers a solution of heating the plastic to reshape...remember that top will not fit if bottom lip is pushed out.
Unfortunately, they do not make the soft saddlebag lock for sale in the USA. The lock system has a metal bar that sits along the lower lip of the saddle bag and holds the correct shape.
