+1 on the last post. I did my Wifes dyna a few years back with great results. Before changing color I looked for a color that suited not only my taste, but would be a color that would still be "Harley" all day long. The color I chose was Dodge Viper Red and was similar to an original Harley color. At trade in time, I did very well as did the dealer having it sold 2 weeks later.
Thanks! Took a few years to figure it out. Never liked the stock black light ( bike was originally black). Even had a chrome chopper style light for a while. Went back to the original at paint time and added the extension trim. Loved it after that.
my current e-glide standard was painted this spring in Ford's Titanium green colour. my '07 eglide classic was painted the same colou and so was my '89 ultra before that . i have had the titanium green since 2007. the previous bikes sold and were taken in trade. paint it what you like.
I just painted my 04 Radiant Red Metallic, a Honda color. The original color was Lava Red Sunglo. I doubt there are many who would recognize that the color is different than what it says. And Im sure I helped the resale since it was looking a bit tired and had a few chips and whatnot.
With the state of Harley resale values, I doubt you could do much to hurt it worse than riding it off the lot.
I paint every bike I've owned. It's to the point the sales team at the local dealership know to sell me a black bike generally as "it'll just be a different color in six months from now". I painted my lowrider s 4 times in a year out of not being able to leave well enough alone. I say paint it. If the ford ruby red you're talking about is code RR I say do it I love that color.
Just paint the bike whatever color you like. As far as resale goes, there will be just as many people that like or dislike your new color as did the original color. As far as changing the title? I wouldn't waste my time or money.

this is the only bike Ive had that I hadnt took apart and painted. Ive had it two years and I like the black but it dont look clean for long and there are a million black ones out there. Im gonna look at some paint chips when I go back to work
