Default Tour-Pak

So I am in the market for a color matched (Billet Silver) Tour Pack for my 2016 Road King. I have looked around and, so far, found 3 viable options, HD ($$$), AdvanBlack and HogWorkz. I know what I would get if I bought HD, but was wondering if anyone has had hands-on comparison of HogWorkz vs. AdvanBlack. These 2, according to their respective websites, are within $150 of each other ($800 vs. $950) and HD is $1550 not including backrest. I have heard good to great things about AdvanBlack but have not heard much from the riders that have HogWorkz color matched stuff. How are the thickness and stability as compared to HD on both aftermarket offerings? I have a detachable mount for the Tour-Pak, currently mounted to the Road King Classic black leather Tour-Pak, but it is small and does not lock.

I just got a color match chopped from Surdyke for $1200...includes rack, backrest and all locks. And chopped is same price as king.

Chopped in Kinetic Green

I can't say anything about HogWorkz. But, I installed a color matched King Tour Pack from Advanblack almost 2 years ago. Color was spot on and the hardware is good. I have added LED tail lights, side markers, OEM wire harness and installed carpet. I have about 19,500 miles on the bike, mostly riding 2-up with the Tour Pack.

Rode through plenty of rain, loaded down and never had water ingress. Went visit a friend in Tennessee last spring and it rained the entire 540 miles there. Wife loves the comfort and it's just like a factory trunk. There are a few rub marks in the paint under the lip where the top half seals over the bottom half. I'm sure vibration and constantly having a passenger on it is what caused it. I'm not worried about it as you don't see it when the lid is closed.

I would definitely buy another one if I purchased another bike. If you look up "Bonneville Salt Pearl King Tour Pack" on ebay, the first listing has RGS in the pictures. It is literally my bike before I added the side markers. I sent those pics to the AdvanBlack dealer after the install.

Good day!

another option is to split up where you buy the stuff. in just comparing the tour pack itself, there is not a lot of difference between advanblack and one of the hd discounters. if i were in the market for a complete set up, i would consider purchasing the tour pack from hd, and the mounting rack, backrest, docking hardware, etc. from amazon.

for example, industrial grey denim tour pack with backrest from advanblack is $799

hd tourpack is $849 plus $229 for the harley backrest pad = $1078. take off 20% from the discounter = $862 you could shave the difference even more by buying the backrest off of amazon for less than $100.

for that difference, i would go with hd. but that's just me.

I had great luck with Advanblack. They did a color match Charcoal Denim razor for my 16 SGS. Color was spot on. Custom service was fantastic. Would buy another from them for my Performance Orange SGS but they do not offer the color yet and have no time frame for adding it. I also know if you contact them about a package deal, they will offer a better price. You will be happy with it.

“HD5%forum” gets 5% off at Advanblack. I have one ordered.
