Lotsto read about which oil to use nothing about which oil filter to use.Is one name brand oil filter better than others?. If so, why?.
Yes, Go with Harley brand. I used a off the wall filter last year and ended up with oil over the place. The filter just wouldn't seal right. Harleys filter works every time.
Use HD filters and buy them a few at a time off the web from someone like Zanotti's. Or just buy them as you need them at the dealer. Don't forget the O ring.
As I understand it, the HD filter does the job down to 5 microns, and the K&N is only down to 10 microns.
I'm not aware of any filter that does the same job as the HD filter, BUT I am not very well educated in this area either
I run Mobil1 and Purolator. Bought Mobil 1 at Autozone--great reviews on this filter. Purolators (more surface area inside to collect debris) I bought from AMAZON--about $5 each. Bought several and saved the freight. Both are black. I don't like the chrome--just more stuff to polish plus I heard that the black run about 10 degrees cooler than chrome.
