Check your wiring!
I did the Heritage bars on my RK this weekend and found (sorry, no pic) a damaged wire connector in the headlight nacelle. I bought the bike new (2011 model) and this was the first time I've been in behind the headlight. It looked like they just stuffed the wire bundles in and shoved the headlight in place. One of the connectors was getting caught between the back of the headlight and the frame (steering head), more or less grinding it every time I turned. One of the wires was worn thru the insulation and only had half a dozen strands holding it together. Being a black wire (and not shorting out) I'm guessing it was a luckily a ground. I spliced in a new connector for the damaged wire and put all of the other bundles on their mounts. I'm just glad I found it now rather than out on the road.
So, if you haven't been in behind your headlight yet, might be worth a look.
