2012 FLHX side case leak. Looks like I've developed a trans leak. Can the cover be removed & gasket replaced? Any complications I need to know about? UGH ⁉️
Of course it can be placed.. but you'll have to pull the primary (other side) to get it out. The whole transmission needs to come out. I tighten the screws and clean it off.

Might just need to retorque those two bolts...world famous for coming loose. As a matter of fact a guy i work with wanted me to stop at his place to help find a leak on his 2016 road glide. I asked where abouts it seemed to be coming from and then told him to check those two bolts. Well they werent loose but they were both gone lol...two new bolts with a drop of loctite and hes been good to go.
I forget the years it applied to... but there was info going around that on certain years, those bottom trans cover bolts were known to be and/or work loose... Many were successful just tightening them up...
You may be able to find info on it by searching this forum...
I should probably ad that it's good to remove the bolts one at a time, clean the hole out and bolt with brake clean, then add a little blue loctite to the bolt. Torque to spec.
The ones that work loose are the later ones with the L shaped bracket that is held on by only 2 screws (as shown). Earlier ones used an odd shaped bracket and 4 screws seemed to not have the issue with the screws working loose but the bracket eventually broke.
