Default ABS brake bleeding at home

I have had enough of this ABS crap. Change one thing and if you oops it is off to the dealer.

Doesn't anyone make an adapter that allows us to do this at home yet? My bike is an 08. That's 12 years. The MOCO has to have let something out by now.

I know indy shops can do it so what is the tool. There has to be a way to bleed these at home. Bleeding brakes is stupid easy as long as we can bypass the ABS module. Heck most cars have a way to do it built in.

I do all the work on my bike except this. For the $125 my dealer charges (which includes fluid), it isn't worth screwing around with IMHO, and I don't like handing my keys over to anyone.

This scanner has the option. Plus its not locked to your VIN you could use it on buddies bikes as well.

So, lets say I flush my fluid out as if it is a non-ABS system, then go exercise the ABS on a loose surface or with hard stops, then flush again. Why would that not work clean fluid into the whole system?

I bought the shop version of the IT Mercenery tool. Allows me to do as many bikes as I want and can do both 08-13 J1850 and 14-up canbus bikes.

So you plug into the bike. Connect to an android device and you can then force the ABS open so that you can properly bleed the system? Is that right?

If you watch the video below of the procedure used by the inventor of the device linked to in post #2, you will see that he first performs a brake fluid flush, then he activates the ABS several times using his ABS software. After the activation, though he doesn’t show the procedure again, he performs another flush.

The point is that doing a flush like you’re wanting to perform by exercising the ABS with hard stops on a loose surface would, in my opinion, probably work. Would you be activating the ABS for the amount of times and for the length of time he does, probably not, but you would need to be the judge and decide if doing it your way is good enough.

Watch the IT Mecenary video I posted. Just a little warning. I don’t know if you had the H-D ABS recall flush performed, but there were a number of reported cases where owners were having to replace the ABS/HCU because either or both components failed during the flush. Big bucks!
